Planning a College Batch Reunion: T-Shirts, Logistics, and Timing
A batch or alumni reunion tee is one of the most common group-order requests — and one of the easiest to get wrong if it's planned too late.
Why batch reunions have their own planning logic
Unlike a family function or a friends' trip, a college batch reunion usually involves people who haven't been in regular contact — sizing, headcount, and even final attendance tend to be far less certain until close to the event, which changes how you should plan the order.
Design ideas specific to batch reunions
- "Batch of [year]" or "Class of [year]": simple, unambiguous, and doesn't require an inside joke everyone remembers the same way.
- A shared reference from your actual batch: a nickname, a professor's catchphrase, a hostel or department in-joke — these age better in photos than a generic reunion slogan, provided most attendees will actually recognise it.
- Understated over loud: reunions often include a wide range of comfort levels with "matching outfit" energy — a smaller printed detail (chest or sleeve) tends to get more consistent buy-in than a large, unmissable front print.
Handling uncertain headcounts
Because attendance for reunions is often uncertain until close to the date, it helps to set a firm RSVP-and-size-collection deadline (with a small buffer built in) rather than trying to keep the order open indefinitely — most bulk printers need a locked size list to start a print run, and can't easily add a handful of extra pieces on the exact same run after production has started.
A realistic timeline
- 6+ weeks out: confirm the design and open size collection alongside RSVPs.
- 3 weeks out: close size collection and place the order — 7–12 working days is a typical turnaround once sizes are locked.
- 1 week out: arrange collection or delivery logistics, especially if attendees are travelling from different cities.
Splitting cost across a group
For batch reunions specifically, it's common for one organiser to collect payment upfront per person rather than the group ordering individually — this also makes it easier to get one consolidated bulk quote rather than everyone paying separate, higher per-piece retail prices.
